Looking for Secure, Affordable Razor Barbed Wire?

I spent a week in Anping, Hebei—the fence capital of China—and, to be honest, it changed how I see perimeter security. What it is, technically

Razor barbed wire—also called concertina—uses a high‑tensile core wire wrapped with stamped blades. Materials here are typically hot-dipped galvanized steel sheet and wire, or stainless (304 for coastal, 430 when budgets are tight).

How it’s made (shop-floor view)

1. Material prep: galvanized sheet (per ASTM A653) and wire (ASTM A641) or SS 304/430.
2. Stamping: blades punched to BTO/CBT profiles; burrs removed.
3. Forming: blades crimped around high-tensile core wire; regular/reverse twist.
4. Coiling: set to 450–1000 mm; clips added for concertina expansion.
5. Testing: tensile checks, coating mass, dimensional tolerances, ISO 9227 salt spray sampling.
6. Packaging: waterproof inner wrap, woven bag/carton outer; palletized for export.

Service life? Around 10–15 years for galvanized in temperate zones; 15–25 years for SS 304; coastal or chemical sites will shorten that, inevitably.

Install straight on wall tops, in spiral concertina on posts, or as mobile barrier modules. For windy sites, I guess a smaller coil (450–600 mm) behaves better.
